Here’s one of the original App Store screenshots for MyWeather Mobile. We’ve come a long way…
Seasonality Go was just a glint in my eye, and wasn’t available until day 1 of the iPad App Store a few years later.
Looks like someone already put MyWeather Mobile on that list of the first 500 apps on the App Store. That was a heck of a project to pull together in just a few weeks. So much fun.

After seeing the keynote and reading your take on it, I can say with certainty that I was completely wrong. The Vision Pro will cement itself as an important part of future computing.

I’m a little surprised the Apple silicon Mac Pro didn’t go directly to PCIe 5 support. That’s been standard on desktop and server PC hardware for months now.
I’ve learned in the last 24 hours that OWC must not stress test their Thunderbolt 10GbE adapters. Use case: copying 15TB over the network.
An OWC Helios w/ 10Gb card lasted for only 15-30 minutes saturating the link before it overheats and kernel panics (tested on both an M1 Max and Intel MBP).
The OWC Thunderbolt Pro Dock (latest rev) fared better, and lasted 5-6 hours before it overheated and reset itself, dropping all network connections.
Next up: Internal 10GbE NIC on a 2018 Mac Mini.
Yasss! Wiped a pool and added a couple more drives. 8x16TB in a raidz2.

One of the nicer places I’ve had the privilege to eat lunch.
This morning I took the path less traveled (it’s not even on most maps), and it paid off big time.
Tonight’s sunset was one for the books.
I knew it was bound to happen, but I was foolish enough to keep going.
I’ve only seen this a handful of times in my 20 years in Michigan, but we’re getting thundersnow!
This evening at their rock-climbing class, our oldest, on her way up, gave our youngest a high-five while on her way back down from the top.
It has been just over 3 weeks since starting the new job. The learning curve has been intense, but I love it. It has been like being at WWDC three weeks in a row.
I always look forward to learning new tools and development methods when joining a team. Gives me a chance to become a better developer.
I missed using Tweetbot since switching to Mastodon. Great to be able to use @ivory@tapbots.social now that it has hit the App Store.
Somewhat ironically, now that I’m working full-time again, I’ve become quicker at responding to support email for personal apps. Not because I have more time (I don’t), but because of changes I’ve made out of necessity.
The biggest help has been setting up an online knowledge base. Now if a question comes in that isn’t documented, the response first gets added to the website, and then a link is sent to the user. Subsequent responses are much quicker now. Wish I would have done this years ago.
Bummed that the Bills’ season ended today. Glad to see the 9ers are still in it though.
18 years ago I started my own company, Gaucho Software. I’ve created my own apps, like Seasonality which has been written about in publications like the New York Times. I’ve also worked on contract-based jobs including the NCAA March Madness app, which won an Emmy. It has been a great ride, but recently I’ve been feeling like it’s time for a change.
Today I re-joined the corporate world and started a new full time position as a Senior Software Engineer at Doximity. I’ll be working on their iOS app for healthcare professionals. I’m excited to spend the next phase of my career helping make healthcare better.

I’m continually impressed with the Pro-100. It was bundled free with a DSLR I bought years ago. I’ve printed a ton of borderless 13×19 photos on it, and the print quality and longevity have been really good.
I’ve never had an ink cartridge dry out if I don’t use it for a few months, which I can’t say about any other inkjet I’ve owned. The cost of the ink is the only drawback, but compared with the rising cost of prints that’s less of an issue these days.
Sent some last-minute holiday prints to Walgreens, because an order from Adorama’s Printique or Bay Photo wouldn’t arrive in time. Half of them were ruined by the color correction Walgreens does while printing.
Ended up printing them on the Canon Pixma Pro-100 we have here at home and they turned out much nicer.
