It’s laundry day here in Papua New Guinea, but it’s a much more involved process than back home. Here’s how it’s done.
This morning we joined the women’s group for a sing-sing. The traditional outfits were amazing and you should have seen the amount of food (including live chickens!) they brought to donate to the pastors of the 22 local churches.
The national church office for the ELCPNG is in Lae. We spent 2 days there meeting with everyone together: the 4 synods from the US and the 4 districts from PNG. It was wonderful to meet so many new people, and the hospitality shown by our hosts was amazing.

We visited the parliament building this morning here in Port Moresby. This mural was created by countless tiny tiles. It was quite amazing.
Flight number 7 out of 14. Last really early morning flight, hopefully (woke up at 3:45am).
Security at this airport was…interesting. I opened my suitcase to show the guard the inside. He asked me if I had anything dangerous. I said no, and he waved me on.
Six flights later and we finally landed in Lae last night. Got a good nights rest for the first time since the trip started.
First lunch in Papua New Guinea: bacon and egg sandwiches, egg and bell pepper quiche, potato salad, and fresh fruit on a separate plate. Really tasty, but I’m curious what they eat for breakfast…
We spent a couple of nights in Cairns, Australia to recover from the 2 day flight to this hemisphere. I talk about some of our experiences in this video. Tomorrow we’ll be in Papua New Guinea!

After 37 hours of traveling time, we made it to our first stop in Cairns, Australia. Here are some video clips from our journey…

So who’s going to tell the pilot we’re going the wrong way? Wheels up at SFO…it’s going to be a long night.
We’re taking off! Thanks for all the support from family, friends, and the community!

So is the latest iPad OS 13 betas stable enough to install on a daily device? Really want to take advantage of some of the new Files features.
In this video, I get immunized for the trip to Papua New Guinea. Along the way I talk about the other team members from Michigan and around the U.S who are participating and how we’ll be staying healthy while traveling abroad.

This post is a little bit different… I’m heading off to Papua New Guinea in a few weeks on a mission trip. Here’s a video talking more about the trip.

At the Micro.blog meetup. Howdy everyone…
The base 2019 Mac Pro only has a 256GB SSD; pathetic for a $6k computer. However, the bottom of the specs page on Apple’s site mentions Pegasus MPX Modules. The Pegasus 2Ji gives you a couple of 3.5” drive slots, and the 4Ri will give you an internal 4 disk RAID 5!

BTW, if you’re wanting to install Catalina on your Mac with APFS but don’t have a second drive, open Disk Utility and add a second volume.  It will share the storage with your primary volume, while still giving you a clean “partition†to work with.

Just copied a 6GB file across the network in 8 seconds flat. 10GB Ethernet FTW.
In my latest video, I talk about the crop factor on Canon DSLRs while recording 4K video. It’s a hassle creatively, but there are good reasons they design the cameras this way.

So tired of Michigan weather. Out at the baseball field with a temperature of 53° and 28 mph gusts…in May. And this isn’t even the coldest game this season.
